Frequently Asked Questions

You or your partner told us that you have had or adopted one or more children. Learning about your children and the rewards and challenges of parenting is an important new direction for the Survey of Parents and Families.

Birth cohort studies, which follow the same people and families over time, are one of the best tools to inform researchers and policy makers about what matters most for the well-being of families and children. Because of the participation of thousands of families over the past twenty-five years, this is the longest birth cohort study of health in the United States.

We invite you to join the Generation 3 study as we continue to follow the same 5,000 families who agreed to participate in this study when you or your child’s other parent were born.

Your child's other parent was part of the original study and we asked them to send you a link to the survey and to this website. We will not have any of your information until you decide to participate. We hope you will consider joining! See here for more information.

By participating in the survey, you will contribute valuable knowledge about the health and well-being of families like yours. Your participation in this research is voluntary.

When you are verified as eligible to participate, you will be invited to complete the survey by phone or online. When the survey is completed and the samples are received, you will receive a check for as a thank you for your time.

Checks may take 2-3 weeks to process via mail and virtual gift cards can take 5 business days to arrive via email. If you have any questions, please email us at [email protected] or call us at 855-447-2015.
